As you read this, my sweetie and I are on our weekend getaway. I’ve been planning for this for months. Since about the time Sarah surprised Dan with his weekend getaway, and I spent the weekend at Sarah’s with all six kids. Which is where the six kids are now. With Sarah. At Sarah’s. And I have no doubt that everyone is fine.
As for me and my sweetie, we do not get away together often. This trip is a birthday present to him. And all I told him was that he needed to be packed by 3:00 Friday afternoon. He doesn’t know where we are going or what we will do when we get there.
I won’t give you the whole itinerary. It’s not detailed, anyway. But it does include taking the train into New York City. Having dinner at a good friend’s restaurant in Greenwich Village. Staying in the apartment of a new and oh-SO-generous friend. Leaving Saturday’s plans up to J. And then surprising him with a grand finale of Celtics tickets Sunday afternoon, when they are playing the Knicks at Madison Square Garden (where I have never been).
So many people have been a part of this planning. And I am so grateful to you all. From the offer of a place to stay, to advice on what train to take and where to park, to getting tickets to the game and to the metro. We are in a budget crunch here in our lives, and so many friends, new and old, have made more than an effort to help us have this weekend.
And, do I need to mention Sarah? She is taking all of the children for the weekend. Oh, yeah. I mentioned that. Thanks, Sally. For the kid corner. For the clothes you let me borrow at the last minute. For your support and encouragement. For your NYC book and guidance. Thanks for going away with Dan last June. I saw how much fun you had, and I knew it was something J and I needed, too.
Catch you all on Monday.
OH, and, since it’s a vacation day for me and since Sarah is BUSY today, we’re giving you all the day off, too. Comments are turned OFF. Be generous and leave a comment at another reader’s site. Then go spend time with your families. (And check back tomorrow for another surprise!)
**Note: It is 3:24 pm and Momalom’s Mom just called to ask why Jen’s post wasn’t up and I was all like WHAT DO YOU MEAN IT’S NOT UP? I thought I posted it this morning at 6 am but apparently in my haze of six kid-dom and a 4:38 am wakeup, I hit the Preview button instead of the Publish button. Maybe??? This is my best guess. What the….
Oh well, here it is. We decided to close comments long before I dropped the ball. So have fun with your freebie. I’m going to take a nap. :)
