This is my life: My boys, My heart

Max-in-HeelsLittle boys are little boys are little boys are…cute. Want-to-eat-you-up cute. Want-to-bury-you-in-the-couch-cushions cute. Want-to-make-a-fort-and-hide-in-it-with-you-forever cute.

Max-and-Jamis-TubMy boys are rough and tumble. My boys are sweet. My boys are unafraid and loud, quirky and energetic. They are all mine, and I am nothing but lucky. And when I think I’m missing out on something by being a mama of all boys, only boys, boys-all-the-time boys, not-a-pink-dress-in-sight boys, I can look at these photos and sweetly smile and say, “Yeah, this is my life. And it’s a great, great life.”

Oh the cute!

Hey, Ethan! Thanks for reminding me we are out of bubble bath around here. (Something tells me you may need more, too?)

I totally thought of you when I snapped those photos of Maxie in the high heels. Sometimes I feel he’s as much your baby as he is mine. Except, he’s not so baby anymore! Wahhhhh!

BOY oh boy are they ever. I have one of those – a running-too-fast, everything-is-a-hammer, LOOK AT THAT BIG TRUCK kind of boy. Loving your words and pictures today.

Great photos. They look so happy. Thanks for sharing such great family moments. It makes me remember when my kids were that young and just a little bit sad.

Oh, I love this! I have 2 boys, too (and 2 girls, but I’m focusing here)…and this describes them perfectly. Beautiful.

My boys have a definite preference for my 4″ red patent leather heels…heh.

I tend to agree. Having wanted a daughter, I must admit that after raising two sons, I am so happy that God gave me the honor of being their mom. It has been a blessing.

What great scrub-a-dub-boys you have! I think my big kid would tell you that he’d pay cash money for a brother who gets to live with him and play/fight with him. Your children are just as lucky as you are!

I’ve got similar pictures of my little boys, too. I don’t have a girl to compare things to, but I think being a Mom to three boys is pretty wonderful.

Sarah, Love a boy in high heels! I have one of my son wearing some very boyish pajamas and my heels when he was little. I think he did that more than my daughter!

I always wanted girls…and then I had my boys, and then, well, you know how that goes…now I realize boys rock. Especially mine. Most days.

Love, love, love this! (And as a mama of boys, what’s not to love?) And oh those bathtub photos have great powers of persuasion, as boys turn into tweens and teens, and you need “leverage” of some sort (hehe).

But, um, nobody, and I mean nobody gets near this little mama’s footwear, except moi.

Priceless pictures. True words. Your boys are wonderful. We all have dreams and desires, but when it comes down to it, reality, what we do have, here and now, is often the most magical of all.

So precious! When I found out I was having boys I panicked – What did I know about raising little men? But they have been, without a doubt, so much fun and laughter and joy!

Oh, I love this! My two little boys, aged 2 and 1, do the same thing with their little foam letters in the bath, and i also have numerous pictures of the older one traipsing around in a diaper and high heels. Some things are universal, I guess :)

They are adorable!

And PS: I’ll happily mail you a unicorn pillow pet if you ever feel the urge to wonder about little girls.

OMG that top picture in the diaper and heels is priceless! Great shot to show anyone who wonders if you don’t want to try just one more time for a girl. (Can you tell I hear that too often?)

I figure all boys just entitles me to be the girliest girl possible and enjoy the pink all for myself, lol. I just had a blog redesign just to pink things up even more in my little corner of the internet!

Oh the cute is right. I love these pics and your perspective even more. Little boys make me melt like I never knew they could. And most days, pink is over rated.

Amazingly adorable photos. I am so, so sad that blogging didn’t exist when my boys were babies. What an ideal way to document their lives, your feelings, their sayings, your exhaustion…and share with others at the same time. Such a perfect parenting tool. On the flip side, you get the crowd-sourced wisdom of other parents when you’re facing a problem or feeling overwhelmed, just by surfing around.
And now, to try to organize my messy stacks of falling-apart photo albums….:)

LOVE the collage of pictures!! In my house of all boys, things are messy, often smelly, and walking barefoot is not advised as the floor feels like a bas-relief. They are loud, crazed, and often drive me insane. They have the energy of atomic bombs and the volume of a rocket ship. And I would not, for anything in the world, trade them in for any other model. Even my big, stinky tweener – I still want to gobble him up!! And the 4 yr old?? Nearly irrestable!!

Your little guys are so cute. They just remind me of how much I love my little guy.

Something that really bothers me is the bad rap little boys get. Why not celebrate their curiosity? Enjoy their rambunctiousness? Yes, it is hard. Yes, it is exhausting. But, is it not worth it in the end?

That is what you are doing. I love it. And, I love you.

Thank you for the smile, Sarah!

P.S. Thank you so much for all your sweet comments lately. I am just struck by the support I received these last couple of days.

oh, i could eat them UP. boys are special. they have that special dirty dog and candy smell when they’re due for a bath. they have that wild animal thing when they play. they are FUN. nothing touches my heart like seeing my son feel so proud that he got to do “grown up stuff,” like riding shotgun in an 18-wheeler around a shop yard with his dad. or hammering nails into scrap wood in the garage and telling me he had a “hard day at work today.” it’s fascinating to see the seeds of the man in the boy.
