We’re not ungrateful. We’re really really not. But we are frazzled and busy and crazed half the time. And because of these endearing qualities we have neglected to acknowledge three lovely bloggers who recently have bestowed on us awards. AWARDS, people. So, without further ado (ahem, frazzlement), thanks to Maria at Mom of Three Seeks Sanity for

The rules ARE these:
1. Get really excited that you got the coolest award EVER!
2. Choose ONE of the following options of accepting the OMB award:
(a) Get really drunk and blog for 15 minutes straight, or for as long as you can focus.
(b) Write about your most embarrassing moment.
(c) Write a “Soundtrack of your childhood” post.
(d) Make your next blog a ‘vlog’/video blog. Basically, you’re talking to the camera about whatever.
(e) Take a picture of yourself first thing in the morning, before you do anything else (hair, make up,
etc) and post it.
3. Pass the award on to at least three, but preferably more, awesome bloggers as yourself.
OK. There is NO WAY I am doing a vlog. And since it’s 2:51 p.m. and I’m afraid that if I don’t finish this now it won’t get done, that means no first-thing-in-the-morning shot (even though I look just about the same no matter what time of day. Read: A mess). Drunk doesn’t happen in my world. Embarrasing I could do, but since I think this should represent me AND Sarah, I’m choosing the soundtrack. Here goes (please imagine it’s on “random,” because chronological is more than I can accomplish today). Songs that defined my and/or Sarah’s childhood.
“Rescue Me” by Fontella Bass
“Tomorrow” (of Annie)
“Like a Virgin” by Madonna
The soundtrack from the movie Singles (Pearl Jam in particular)
Anything by The Supremes and Roy Orbison
Carole King’s Tapestry
Lots of Carly Simon
Lots of The Beatles
Michael Jackson’s Thriller
Tracy Chapman’s “Fast Car”
OK. Now that you’re fully puzzled, I’ll move on.
Thank you to Cate from Real Life With Kids for

Rules are (1) to thank the giver of the award. CATE! Thank you, fellow mom of three! Your site is gorgeous, your writing is a very fine way to lose a few hours in the day, and your tagline (Life is funny. And messy. And frustrating. And delicious.) is perfect. (2) Post a list of 10 things about yourself. And here’s where I start to cheat, because I’ve already written 10 things. And although I could certainly think of 10 more, a blast from the past is fun, right? Right. So. Ten Things You May Not Know: The Physical Me
And thanks to Tiffany of Elastamom for The Beautiful Blogger Award, whose image is supposed to be here but I can’t seem to get to appear.
This award is another of the “10 Things About Yourself” variety. I’ve covered that, but here’s 10 things about SARAH. (See how fun this is?)
1. She was a vegetarian long before I swore off meat.
2. She makes a kickass white lasagne.
3. She has very groovy handwriting.
4. She has three kids. (Duh, I know. But I just asked my son to tell me something about Aunt Sarah, and that’s the FIRST THING HE SAID. “Like you, Mom.” See how it defines us?)
5. She hates feet.
6. She sang “La Bamba” in her fourth grade talent show (and ROCKED it).
7. She has pulled out chunks of my hair.
8. She has bailed me out of a few tricky places, gracefully each time.
9. She is my technical advisor.
10. She is equal parts pragmatic and fierce.
And there you have it. All of these awards come with the suggestion that they be passed on to several more bloggers. So, to the bloggers here, TAG. YOU’RE IT.

And, speaking of awards, there are still a few more days to vote for us over at Parents Connect. I know, this has been going on forever, right? Well, please won’t you visit a few more times? We’d be so grateful. Go here and find that cute little Momalom Max face to nominate us. Thank you!.

Just the visual of Sarah belting out La Bamba in the talent show has me grinning like an idiot!
Thanks, girls, for being good sports about the award! Most of those songs could easily hae been in my own soundtrack! ;)
Aw, thanks for tagging me! I’m horrible at getting around to these things, though, so please don’t hate me if I don’t.
I’ve been meaning to do the embarrassing moment thing for Maria’s award, and I still have not gotten to it…so know you were not the last one, at least on that one!
Congrats on all these great and well-deserved (and amusing) awards!
I especially love that you tweaked a little – and gave us 10 things we don’t know about Sarah!
Enjoy your holiday. (Red white and blue popsicles?)
aka BOMB pops. How ironic, no?
Nothing says “sister” like pulling out chunks of hair and bailing out gracefully.
You guys rock. Can’t wait to meet you in just a few weeks!!!
“just a few weeks”
you’re making my antsy and skeered.
my goodness, what have we gotten ourselves into?
Just kidding. SO EXCITED.
Ok, I NEVER (and I mean EVER) vote for anything. But I voted for you. There. You are loved for the day.
What an awesome way to do these! :) Loved reading this and can’t wait to check out the folks you listed.
Cate
Thanks for the tag. I’m wondering how one hates feet? They’re sort of important. Although I did take a picture of my toe that was stained by an open deck stain at Walmart and when I looked at it realized my feet were too ugly to post online. So maybe I hate feet, too.
No. No. No. I don’t hate feet. Not anymore. Not since having kids. The babies and toddlers oh my have reinstated my love of the piggies.
!!!
Do you have that La Bamba number on tape? :)
I love that you did a list for Sarah! Now I think she should do one for you. And your soundtrack, just perfect. Especially the Tracy Chapman number. Happy summer!!!
