My discovery of a treasure trove of correspondence, much between me and Sarah (tidbits here and here), led one of our most supportive readers to suggest that we all could write more love letters. And, Amber, you are right. I’ve been thinking about your comment for just about three months now. Add to that the fact that things seem a little lonely—boring, even—around these parts lately. So Sarah and I thought it was time for another challenge, of sorts. And with Valentine’s Day just two weeks away, we decided this is the perfect time.
Our latest endeavor is Love it Up.
Here’s how it works:
- Write a love letter on or before Valentine’s Day (Sunday, Feb. 14).
- You can write to anyone—or anything, for that matter. (I found it helpful to write a love letter to a small appliance a few months back.)
- Link to it here (or e-mail it to us if you don’t have a blog and we will find a home for it).
- Add the blog button to your sidebar if you’d like to inspire some of your own readers.
We will reward a winner with some Valentine’s Day appropriate treats.
There are no other rules. You don’t even have to send the letter (but we hope you do). Just spend some time writing about love. Your love. Maybe you will create a memory. Or add to someone else’s future treasure trove.
For inspiration, I share with you a love letter, of sorts. Written to me from Sarah.

Can you do better than that?
If you would like to put the Link List up at your own site to encourage your readers to participate, please do. E-mail either Sarah or me for the Simply Linked code and we will gladly pass it your way. Let’s build a bigger community. Let’s spread the love!

oh Sarah! I don’t think anyone can do better than that! How adorable! Will really try to do this one. Really. Since I have a love letter brewing anyway. What a fantastic idea!
Oh I hope you will, Shawna! What’s better than a love letter anyway? I’m getting kind of bubbly just thinking about writing one…or two or three! :)

Brewing love letters are better than brewed coffee. I hope yours percolates to our site!

Great idea! One submission, or are multiple subs allowed?
Multiples are allowed…why of course!

Dear Momalom Sisters,
You two make me smile, especially after I have had a rotten day (not today, thank goodness). Thank you for the linky love and you better believe that I will be participating in your most recent community love fest.
You two are the best!!
Love,
Amber

Dear Jen and Sarah,
Will you be my pretend sisters? I know I’m from a family of seven sisters, but still, I could use two more like you. Really.
I love the idea of writing to an appliance. That would be just like me, loving my hair straightener for making me look like a human being. But I will give this some thought and put some love in the air before Valentine’s Day!

Dear Linda,
I’m so happy you’ve found what it takes to make yourself a human being. Perhaps I should borrow Sarah’s hair straightener and see if I have the same results, because lately I have been more of a Momster than a Mom.
Love, your sister in blogville,
Jen

Love it! Now to ponder who/what will be the lucky recipient of my love??? What fun!
Oh, I “love” this!
A) I LOVE that Sarah’s letter is on Muppets stationery!
B) I’m so excited about this! Can I write one in two parts? I’m sure you’ll see where I’m going with this. ;) I can’t wait to sit down and do this!! :)
PS I LOVE my Momalom t-shirt, and Momalom.
XO
Bre
Bre,
You SURE can do two parts. Heck, you can do THREE if you like. Multiple submissions just add to the love, baby.
Love it Up,
Sarah

OK, so Sarah how old were you?…. using a colon and a comma? Besides being ridiculously sweet and persistent in your desire to win back Jen, you got all flashy with your punctuation.
Child Prodigy, I tell you. I was probably 3.5 or 4.
Okay, no really, I have no idea how old I was. This note was a surprise to even me. Jen’s got a whole closet filled with stuff I have no recollection of writing. Gems, I tell you! GEMS! She lets them out a little bit of a time and with each new treasure I’m giddy all over again!

That is the sweetest letter ever. And I love the Muppets stationary.
Now to think about what to write and who to write it to…

This is such a great idea and I LOVE the example shown, so sweet. Even sweeter that you still have it!
Done! Now send me my new nightie and chocolates please. :)

Ah, I love this! What a fun idea. It was easier for me to write about an object than my spouse. I have a deep affection for kitchen gadgets, cleaning equipment, and generally any product that makes life easier. But now I need to try a “real” love letter for my husband!
Thanks for this, Sarah and Jen.
I love this idea. I am having so much trouble writing these days, but am hoping I can get it together to participate!!
Hey Jill, lovely to see you here. And yes! Pull it together and bring us a little romantic inspiration, or…something resembling a whole lotta love.

I”ve got the button up, but my letter it going to take a minute. I’m having a problem expressing myself lately.
I hear you, Natalie. I feel like I’ve been stuck in a writing rut since the end of November!
We look forward to your addition to the list, as always!
